Create a WordPress Website for Your Business, Step by Step
Published · Updated 2026-11-01 · 8 min read
If you run a company, clinic or shop and want a website you can manage yourself, choosing to create a WordPress website is usually the fastest route. WordPress is free, open source, fully supports Arabic and right-to-left layouts, and has thousands of themes and plugins. This guide walks you through it on Orderatk: installation, picking a theme, the pages every business needs, a contact form, SEO basics, security, backups and staging, and finally connecting your own domain.
Prefer to drag and drop with zero setup? Try the Orderatk website builder. If you want the flexibility of WordPress and its plugins, read on.
Before you create a WordPress website: get these ready
Five minutes of preparation saves hours later. Before you click anything, collect:
- Site name and a short tagline: for example "Dr. Ahmed Dental Clinic, Mansoura" or "Al Nour Home Supplies, Nasr City".
- Logo and colours: even a simple PNG logo with a transparent background is fine.
- Page copy: who you are, your services, rough prices or how to order, address and opening hours.
- Real photos: pictures of your place, team and products beat stock images, and customers trust what looks real.
- A domain: if you already have one from any registrar, great. If not, start on the free address and connect a domain later. Unsure about the difference? Read domain vs hosting.
Step 1: Install WordPress in one click
When you sign up to Orderatk you get a free address like yourname.orderatkeg.com that works immediately over HTTPS. In the control panel at my.orderatkeg.com (Arabic or English):
- Open Websites and choose to install WordPress.
- Enter the site title and pick the language: English, or Arabic for a right-to-left WordPress Arabic site.
- Choose a starter theme (more on that below).
- Wait about a minute while the database is created, permalinks are set to "post name" and SSL is switched on automatically.
- Your WordPress login details appear. Store the password somewhere safe.
No manual uploads, no creating databases by hand. WordPress sites default to PHP 8.3, and you can switch between PHP 8.1 and 8.4 in the panel if a plugin needs it.
Step 2: Choose the right theme
The theme controls how your site looks. During install you can pick one of the popular lightweight themes: Astra, Kadence, Blocksy, GeneratePress, Neve, or the default WordPress theme. Later you can install any theme from the wordpress.org directory or upload a zip of a theme you bought.
What to look for
- RTL support: if your site is in Arabic, check that menus, icons and forms display correctly right to left.
- Lightweight and fast: lean themes load faster on customers' phones and do better in Google. See our guide to speed up your WordPress site.
- Mobile first: most visitors arrive on a phone, so test the theme on a small screen before anything else.
- Readable fonts: pick a clear font at a comfortable size, and don't use more than two fonts across the site.
- Page builder compatibility: if you plan to use Elementor, make sure the theme plays well with it.
Tip: don't buy a heavy, effects-packed theme just because the demo looks pretty. A simple, fast site usually sells better than a busy, slow one.
Step 3: The pages every business site needs
Don't start with twenty pages. Start with the essentials and make each one answer a customer question:
- Home: who you are, what you offer, for whom and where, in two lines. Then a clear contact button (call, WhatsApp or form).
- Services or products: one page per important service rather than a single catch-all page. A page called "Orthodontic braces in Mansoura" ranks better than "Our services".
- About us: your story, experience and team photos. This page builds trust.
- Work or reviews: before-and-after photos, completed projects, genuine reviews shared with permission.
- Contact: phone, e-mail, address, map and opening hours.
- Privacy policy: needed especially if you collect data or use tracking tools. The Complianz plugin helps with the cookie consent banner.
Create pages under Pages, Add New, arrange them in the menu (Appearance, Menus, or your theme's editor), and set a static homepage under Settings, Reading.
Step 4: A contact form that actually reaches your inbox
The contact form is where a visitor turns into a lead. Install Contact Form 7 in one click from the Orderatk panel, copy the form's shortcode and paste it into your Contact page.
The classic problem: form messages never arrive, or land in spam. The fix is to send them through a real mailbox on your domain, such as info@yourcompany.com, using the WP Mail SMTP plugin. Point it at mail.orderatkeg.com on port 465 with SSL, with the full e-mail address as the username. No company mailbox yet? Read how to create a business e-mail address or see Orderatk business email. To keep messages out of spam, set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC as explained in why your e-mails go to spam.
Many customers in Egypt prefer WhatsApp. Show a WhatsApp number next to the form rather than offering only one of them.
Step 5: SEO basics for a WordPress website
Install exactly one SEO plugin: Rank Math or Yoast SEO (both are one click in the panel). Don't run both, they conflict. Then:
- A title and description for every page: use the words your customers search for, such as "dental clinic in Mansoura", not "Home".
- Short, clean URLs: permalinks are already on "post name"; just keep slugs short.
- Structured headings: one main heading per page, then H2 and H3 subheadings.
- Alt text on images: describe each image in a short phrase.
- Sitemap: your SEO plugin generates one automatically; you'll submit it in the next step.
- Internal links: link service pages to each other and to your contact page.
If you change an old page's URL, use the Redirection plugin to send the old address to the new one so visitors and Google don't hit a dead end.
Step 6: Connect Google with Site Kit
Site Kit by Google links your site to Google's tools from inside the WordPress dashboard: Google Search Console shows which searches you appear for, Google Analytics shows visitors and where they come from, and PageSpeed Insights measures speed. Install it in one click, sign in with your business Google account and follow the wizard. Once connected, submit your sitemap in Search Console so Google discovers your pages faster.
Alongside Google's tools, the Orderatk panel shows per-site visitor statistics from server logs: visitors, page views, top pages, referrers and the share of mobile visitors.
Step 7: Security basics
Most hacked sites fall to weak passwords or outdated plugins, not sophisticated attacks. Stick to these rules:
- Use a long, strong admin password and avoid the username "admin".
- Keep WordPress, your theme and plugins updated, and delete anything you don't use.
- Install a security plugin such as Wordfence to limit login attempts and scan files.
- Don't give every employee the Administrator role; use Editor or Author where that's enough.
- Never install "nulled" premium themes or plugins from unknown sites; many contain malicious code.
At the hosting level, every Orderatk account is an isolated Linux user with its own PHP-FPM pool, so other sites can't read your files. You can also turn on two-factor login (TOTP) for the control panel and add team members with limited permissions.
Step 8: Backups and staging
Your site and database are backed up automatically every day and kept for 7, 14 or 30 days depending on your plan. You can restore or download any backup from the panel. If you also want an off-site copy, UpdraftPlus is available in one click.
Before any big change, such as switching themes, updating a core plugin or trying a new Elementor design, use staging: a hidden copy of your site (not indexed by Google) where you can experiment freely. When you're happy, press push to send the changes live; a backup is taken first automatically.
Step 9: Connect your domain
When the site is ready, point your domain at it. In your domain registrar's DNS settings, add two records:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| A | @ | 87.98.131.73 |
| CNAME | www | yourname.orderatkeg.com |
Then in Orderatk open Websites, Domains and press "Check now". Once the check passes, a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate is issued and renewed automatically, and the WordPress URL is moved to your new domain for you, with no database editing. Full instructions are on the connect your domain page, and DNS records explained covers the record types.
Want to sell online with WordPress?
Install WooCommerce in one click with the currency preset to Egyptian pounds. If you'd rather have a ready-made shop with less setup, the Orderatk Store built into our website builder takes payments through your own Paymob account plus cash on delivery. See create an online store and our guide to starting an online store in Egypt.
Common mistakes when you create a WordPress website
- Installing dozens of plugins "just in case"; each one slows the site and adds potential vulnerabilities.
- Uploading full-size phone photos without compressing them.
- Forgetting the phone and WhatsApp number at the top of the page.
- Leaving the theme's demo content (Lorem ipsum text and sample images) published.
- Never testing the site on a real phone over an ordinary mobile connection.
Summary
Creating a WordPress website for your business is no longer a big project: one-click install, a lightweight theme, five or six clear pages, a contact form that reaches your inbox, one SEO plugin, plus security and regular backups. Start with the basics and grow the site based on what your customers actually ask about.
